An Italian Wedding: A Fairytale Dream

Italy seems like a lifetime ago.

It was beautiful.

We were invited to Rome for our friend's wedding, So we have everything to thank them for, for bringing us to this beautiful city. Italy has always been on our list to visit but we have never had the chance.

So it was amazing! When we heard that their wedding ceremony would be held in Italy.

Due to plans of maybe moving home, and moving counties, we were a little late in booking our stay so we couldn't get the same hotels as the wedding party.

We wanted an authentic hotel with Italian features to give us the real Italian style. It was hard to find a hotel like this and we eventually settled on a hotel In Vatican City, we knew it was on the same road as the Vatican, but it turned out to be smack bang opposite.

We arrived on a Thursday morning, and with having such an early flight, we travelled through the night to arrive at the airport.

Work was crazy busy, so I was still packing my bags at god knows what hour.

We landed around 11 am and Jumped in a cab to the hotel.

We were staying at the Hotel Vaticano.

The hotel was what I would call as 'classic Italian' as we could find. Marble floors and walls were richly decorated, with gold curtains, brown stutters, and gold accents.

It was lovely, and more importantly clean. The room we had was smallish, but we loved it. It was a nice calm place to relax and cool down after walking the streets of Rome in the heat and my god was it hot, reaching 32* before 11 am.

Wedding day Arrived.

We had a lay-in, of course, the wedding wasn't until later that day and having had absolutely no sleep for 40 hrs, we needed it. We headed out for a late breakfast, found the supermarket and grabbed some snacks. I love Italian snacks, the pastries, the cakes, and the biscuits dipped in chocolate are to die for.

All wedding ready we grabbed a cab to the venue.

My word it was stunning, our jaws dropped as we walked down the driveway and into the grounds. The view was of the whole of Rome, you literally could see as far as your eyes could take you. The views were even more breathtaking at night.

It was an outdoor wedding with white seats, white rose petals and the greenest grass against the bluest sky. with a backdrop of fairytales looking over Rome. Every new moment you were wowed when something more spectacular would come into view or happen. It was the wedding of your dreams. The beautiful happy couple were surrounded by so many people who loved them and couldn't wait for this moment to arrive. We estimated nearly 150 people had flown to Italy to share this beautiful moment with them.

After the service we had welcome drinks, where you could walk the grounds, or sit by the fountain as you sipped some bubbles, I of course did all three.

As we were called up for dinner the scenery was outstanding, the decor was of rich gold with warm whites and stunning flower arrangements, it literally was, any girl's wedding dreams come true. Dinner was amazing with three courses of food. The white, red and rose wines, the laughter getting to know new friends and hearing and sharing funny stories of the past from other friends who also knew the Bride and groom. It was a room full of love and happiness for their future to come.

The dessert table was any foodie's dream, with many choices to Pick from, and the Italians make the best desserts. The music was all day and every genre you could have. The cake-cutting was accompanied by fireworks that lit up the darkened sky. Smiles and pictures all around to cherish these moments.

I absolutely adore my friends. They are the kindest, most generous people I know, and they deserve all the happiness in the world. I cannot thank them enough for bringing us to this beautiful country. To share these cherished moments for many years to come. It was the wedding of the year! We left feeling totally in love and elated with the day's events finally rolling in at 3 am! I can't remember when I last arrived at that time of the morning.

Italy was a very welcome break for me since I very nearly wasn't allowed to fly. It has made us incredibly excited for our wedding later this year.

B & T's Wedding was an absolute dream and I wish the Very Happy Couple a lifetime of happiness. I will be gushing about this wedding for years to come, the memories are pure, beautiful and engraved in my heart. It was the most beautiful place to be and we wish them a lifetime of happiness.

To Mr and Mrs Poole!
